Easter Brunch Egg Strata

We would like to share with all of you a favorite recipe from the Shafer Baillie Mansion

3-4  Cups shredded bread - You can use any type of breads.  I like a combination of Dave’s Killer 21-grain bread along with croissants as they are very buttery and make for a wonderful texture and flavor. 

8 Eggs, beaten

3 Cups milk

3 Cups grated cheese - I prefer a combination of white and yellow chesses, such as Flagship Cheddar and Swiss. A Mexican blend makes a nice option.  You can also sprinkle cooked sausage on top with the cheese.

Spices – In addition to salt and pepper, I use a combination of fresh rosemary and other dried spices that I have on hand. Rosemary seems to be the favorite.

Spread bread pieces in layer 1-2” deep

Combine eggs, milk and spices and pour over the bread layer.

Top with grated cheese.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake uncovered 50-60 min at 350o
