Monsoon

Monsoon is hands-down one of our favorite spots in the city. Their cuisine is Modern Vietnamese, blending Saigon classics with modern twists, all while sourcing locally. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but if you’re looking for our recommendation, we love the green papaya salad and crispy vegetarian rolls! Other hits on the menu include salt and pepper chicken wings, grilled prawn vermicelli, turmeric pork tenderloin, and lemongrass tofu.

Palermo

If you are craving some quality Italian food, look no further than our neighbors at Palermo Pizza & Pasta. With just about everything you could wish for under one roof, they have salads, sandwiches, pizzas, calzones, pastas, and desserts. We highly recommend their chicken parmesan sandwich, gyros, and linguine con frutti di mare (linguine with shrimp and a creamy lemon sauce!)

Jamjuree

Our favorite movie or game night take-out pairing is some quality Thai food. For this we absolutely adore the chefs and their work at Jamjuree. All of their curries are out of this world! If you had to choose just one though, Brenda especially loves the Panang curry. Their large menu offers a plethora of other options to choose from including salads, soups, rice dishes, and noodle dishes.

Rom Mai Thai

We just wouldn’t be representing Seattle if we didn’t have more than one Thai restaurant on our list! Our other true love when it comes to Thai restaurants is Rom Mai Thai. Their Pumpkin Curry is a delicious treat that we’d recommend year round. Whether it’s their pad thai, wonton soup, pineapple fried rice, duck curry, or any of the other dishes on their fabulous menu, we always find ourselves deeply nourished and satisfied after ordering take-out at Rom Mai.

Liberty Bar

We absolutely love our regular fix of sushi and cocktails here at the Shafer Baillie Mansion. Luckily, Liberty Bar is a one-stop-shop and has both! On the tasty sushi side, we recommend the Emerald City, Seattle, Fishface, and Firecracker rolls. On the creative cocktail side, we have to suggest the Lady Buzz or Black Walnut Old Fashioned. But don’t fret, you can’t make a mistake ordering at this wonderful spot!

Teriyaki & Wok

A Capitol Hill favorite, Teriyaki & Wok is a great spot for fresh and fun Asian food. With a wide variety of teriyaki dishes, from chicken to prawn to salmon to tofu, this spot has got the spicy sauce down to a perfect recipe. If you’re not in the mood for teriyaki or want to add something extra on, we recommend their kung pao chicken, mongolian beef, or fried rice dishes. To try a little bit of a few things, they have delicious combo plates as well.

Poquitos

Our favorite Mexican food in the area is an easy choice - Poquitos. Of course, you have to get an order of their homemade chips and salsa or guacamole to start off your meal just right. Then for a main dish, they have scrumptious soups, salads, tacos, burritos, and enchiladas to choose from. Our recommendations for the meat lover would be the barbacoa tacos, pork carnitas burrito, or chicken enchilada verde. For the vegetarians, we say go for their kale mushroom tacos or cheese enchiladas.

Vios

Vios is an amazing spot in town for made-from-scratch Greek food for lunch or dinner. They have all of the famous Greek classics, including hummus, babaganoush, dolmas, spanakopita, salads, pita sandwiches, and souvlaki plates. Our top three go-to dishes are the spring orzo salad, pork gyros, and lamb leg souvlaki. And don’t forget to get some baklava or rice pudding for dessert!
