Southwest Ballroom
Originally comprising the southwest portion of the mansion’s grand third-floor Ballroom, the Southwest Ballroom is beautifully outfitted with a California king-size bed featuring a high-end Simmons Beautyrest pillow-top mattress and fabulous high thread-count hand-pressed cotton linens. There is a large leather couch for sitting and lounging, and it doubles as a queen-size foldout bed to accommodate additional guests when needed. The newly-updated private bath features a good-sized walk-in shower, pedestal sink, and period-style tile floor—with the decidedly modern touch of in-floor heating. There is an original stained-glass window in the bath as well. A major facet of the 2009 renovation was the addition of central air conditioning to keep the guest rooms cool and comfortable even on the hottest days Seattle has to offer.
The Southwest Ballroom, and the other third-floor guest rooms, are fully carpeted to reduce transmission of sound between floors. Amenities include a 40” HDTV and DVD-Blu-Ray player, wireless and wired high-speed Internet access, and private phone with voicemail and free local calls.
The windows of the Southwest Ballroom overlook the South Garden and terrace, and also offer a view to the west, including Queen Anne Hill and small views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains.
As with the other third-floor guest rooms, the Southwest Ballroom is significantly larger than the comparably-priced queen-size rooms on the second floor, making it an attractive alternative for those guests who don’t mind the additional stairs. And with the sleeper-sofa it also offers the flexibility to accommodate up to 4 guests.
